It's late getting light these mornings. I put food on the bird table when it's light enough to see my way. This morning a blackbird followed me down, along with the hens, and sat on the edge of the bird table, less than 12 inches from me :)
I bought new food on Thursday - in addition to sunflower hearts, I've been putting out fat pellets with mealworms in, and these seem to be a favourite with the robins as well as the blackbirds.
"Saturday Slaughters" at the library today: the room was decorated for Christmas, and Louise (librarian) had made a chocolate cake with Minstrels on top, for Elaine's (reader) birthday. I do think Orkney Library must be the best in the world :)
