On this day 8th December 1980 John Lennon was brutally gunned down in front of Yoko in New York City. One of those rare instances where you remember exactly where you were when you heard the news. In search of a suitable track to memorialise this day I listened to Double Fantasy the beautiful album he’d just released with Yoko before his murder and which signalled his re-emergence into the light with a celebration of his love for Yoko and for his young son, Sean. But altogether too heartbreaking ( Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans) In these grim times better to remember John as an unsurpassed champion of peace and love, but with an uncompromising view of his own place in the world, and what needed to be changed.
