All things bright and beautiful

... was the theme of Stoke Fleming's Friends of St Peter's decorated tree at the village's Annual Christmas Tree Festival at the Village Church, St Peter's. It was one of two dozen trees, each respective tree decorated by a different village club or organisation.

I was delighted to see a worm on their tree, alongside this elephant with a tortoiseshell butterfly perched on its huge ear! It was a wonderfully whimsical interpretation of the famous children's hymn.

Funny how nobody seemed to mention the elephant in the room ...!

My Extra shows our Table Tennis club's offering, which was the best tree this year, in my opinion. It had a nautical theme and was beautifully decorated. For the first time for years, I didn't have a hand in it, beyond providing one treasure chest, so I am speaking totally objectively.

Posting my blip this evening after watching Strictly. What a close semi-final it was! Ended up agreeing with the judges on the top three dancers, but will be sad to see either Joe or Lauren go, and it must surely be those two that appear in tomorrow's dance off? A difficult choice for the judges, if so.

Finally, here's my silly ditty. As the writer of a whole book of worm poems - "Don't Poke a Worm till it Wriggles" - I'm always up for a new one to add to my collection:

A friendly worm who's always there
won't leave you in the lurch.
This little worm, he spared a prayer
for Christmas in the church.

Happily, he stretched out long
and, looking very dutiful,
he joined the other creatures on
a tree marked Bright and Beautiful.

Oh, little worm, may God now heed
your humble supplication.
God bless each earthworm's earthly need
and speed their soil-aeration.
