Silver Birch forest

Silver Birch trees grow profusely along Royal Deeside. Under blue skies with bright winter sun the trunks sparkle against the orange of the forest floor and the distant purple of the hills.
However, today there is no blue sky. The sun is nowhere to be seen and I will not pass this way again for a few months at least.
