Quake Proofing

Earthquake strengthing work is being carried out on the local school hall. The rest of the buildings have been strenthened. An expanding roll after World War 2 made it necessary for the school to move to a larger site and in 1954 it reopened on land at the end of our road. A large house belonging to the former owners was converted into a hall.
