A Little Bird Told Me
We had just come home with yesterday's purchase of an 8 ft. Christmas tree, when a neighbour came to the door with the name and phone number of the guy at the Christmas tree farm who wanted to speak to us!
Although we had given him our name and address he could not contaact us as quickly as he wanted as our phone number is not listed. However there are 2 brothers who live in our village who often do joinery work for the farm, so the tree seller phoned their mobile number and they phoned their sister-in-law (our neighbour) who in turn came to our door. If you follow.
Anyway we wondered what we had done wrong, so H phoned the tree farm to find out.
It turns out that we entered the tree farm's prize draw when we bought last years tree. The draw apparently took place last Thursday and we won. H had changed her email address so we didn't get the emailed news of our win and this was the tree farm realising that we had just bought a tree which was the prize.
Anyway (if you are still with me - and that is most unlikely by now) the upshot is that we are going back today to be refunded the cost of the tree :-)
Just shows you the power of communication and personal connections. It's just the sort of thing my late granny used to explain by saying a little bird told her
