Sitta europaea,Nuthatch,Garden
Although Nuthatches are known to breed within a couple of hundred yards of us they are very occasional visitors to our feeding station. Being seen perhaps once a month or less. As a result when I get chance to get a shot I generally take the chance.
When I was a boy there were no Nuthatches in the county, we were too far north. Now they breed in most Tetrads (a square 2Km x 2Km) north to a line from Edinburgh to Ayr, with odd pairs breeding north to level with Skye.
The day was taken up with visits to a couple of garden centres with Kanyl a meal and then to our habitual Wednesday night in the pub.
