A little ray of sunshine

At least the train ran

The major fail of this morning was not Northern and their hopeless service, but the electricity. Initially the whole hospital. I was on ITU at the time, in a side room with no windows. We all breathed a sigh of relief once we'd established that the emergency generator was powering the vital equipment, we carried on with xraying the patient by torch light..

The tree lights were still twinkling though! And costa did good business.

For the next four hours we were down to 2 portable x-ray machines in A&E, a very dark processing room and two computers.. challenging! It was the calm before the storm though with a lot of work to catch up with once all systems were fully functioning again. Luckily for me by then it was nearly the end of my shift.
