Sinterklaas

On the 5th of December the Dutch celebrate Sinterklaas, Saint Nicholas. It's primarily for children, they get lots of presents and sweets. In the library we had these treats. Kruidnoten. A kind of mini spiced cookies with and without a chocolate covering.

I don't celebrate sinterklaas any more. Not since my mother passed away some years back. Though two of my brothers have given me chocolate letters a while ago. And I've a friend in Dublin who sends her Christmas card to me early enough to arrive in time for Sinterklaas, containing a nice gift. Happy me.
