Girl with drip on nose
We had a lovely evening at the Covent Garden opera last night. The production of Carmen was slightly strange as it was modern and a tad lacking in colour. The music and performances were outstanding however.
We stayed in a small hotel nearby and this morning it was raining and I was rather taken by this statue to commemorate the Royal Ballet School outside our hotel.
In the background is Bow Street Magistrates court which, in its time has dealt with such notorious cases as
Giacomo Casanova
Roger Casement
Dr Crippen
Abu Hamza al-Masri
William Joyce
the Kray twins
Emmeline and Christabel Pankhurst
General Pinochet
John Cyril Porte
Oscar Wilde
PS I had to borrow Jane's camera for this as I had decided to travel light and just take my phone. Unfortunately I had taken the wrong charger and the battery was totally flat this morning.
