Skiddaw pretty in pastels
I took this shot of Skiddaw late this afternoon after walking from Skinburness to Grune Point on the west coast. Its been a beautiful day today albeit cold and frosty which I love. The tide was in and covering the grass in places which Bonnie loved as she got to paddle on soft ground. Skiddaw has been in full view for the last few days now and looks great with a covering of snow. I love the pastel colours in this shot and the trees framing the mountain. It was so hard choosing what to blip as I took lots of photos of Grune Point but will go back soon for a blip.
On the way home we stopped to watch hundreds of starlings which were perched in a couple of trees before flying to another tree and another ... Lots more kept on arriving and there was quite a bit of commotion. Some groups also started breaking away and I think they were probably getting ready to fly across the Solway to join their Gretna comrades. Incidentally a video of the Gretna murmuration made it to the local tv news last week!
Took Bonnie to the vet enroute to Skinburness as she still wasn't herself. She had a minor procedure there and two injections and I'm pleased to report that she's now back to normal and has eaten her dinner for the first time in a few days! On a sad note though when we came out I saw a little dog I know quite well with its owner waiting to see the vet, she was quite poorly and I got a text this evening to say that she didn't make it. Such a shame and I'll miss her.
