Pollen

A winter EB.  The season of short dull days is upon us and today I ran out of light before I found time to pick up the camera so it's an Emergency Blip.  Iris unguicularis is sending up new buds almost daily now, little and  pencil shaped, best picked before the weather or the slugs spoil them.  This close-up shows the creamy white pollen on anthers almost hidden inside the flower.

A mixed sort of day, highs and lows.  A few little jobs done and two chests of drawers swapped over so Jamie has one that is a more appropriate height for him.  The food was good along the way .... that chocolate birthday cake is something else!   (It really is too - amongst other things it contains mayonnaise and beer!)
