It wasn't supposed to be this one
but on second thoughts this one might be more interesting whatever.
I observed the crack of dawn and wandered around looking for a shot.
Here the sun is rising over the forest/clouds with a bit of flare thrown in. I necessarily messed around with it in Gimp which I'm learning slowly.
The shot of my rye showing its early first green shoots wouldn't upload. It is significant since that means that if things conform to history there should be some next year. You might be thinking that it's a bit late, but actually it might prove to be no bad thing. Rye is a winter crop which requires the kiss of a little frost if it is going to fruit, i.e. produce grain. Other peoples rye is at a more advanced stage, but a lot of the growth will wither and die in the frost and start again. I'm hoping that there will be something left of the seed still in the spring which will still contain some nutrients for early growth. The crop should also be larger grained than otherwise, since there will be less time to produce flowers induced by 14 hours of light. Since a lot of seed was used, this should be a good thing... Denser coverage of the ground should suppress the copious amounts of rye grass and rye also have a greater allelopathic effect - inhibit germination and growth of weed seeds.
Otherwise I just turned of the tractor engine having poured in 5litres of glycol specially for the weather forecast which is predicting those elephants again. The new door is also taking shape, as is my finger.
