Exploring
We all have our chosen airport hotels (unless you live close enough for a taxi to be practical.) I love the Crowne Plaza at Heathrow ( particularly for the wonderful Indian restaurant on site.)
And when it’s this time of year, and I fly out from Gatwick, my choice tends to be the Courtyard by Marriott as you can walk to South Terminal with relative ease. The food, however, is wildly overpriced and simply not worth it.
A bit of research has found me an Indian restaurant with rave reviews, allegedly within walking distance. My motorways were co operative today so I had time to go for a short stroll after I arrived.
I headed off through the industrial park with slightly manicured gardens. It was easy enough in the daylight to find the little gate that gives access to the main road. I saw the desired restaurant about a quarter of a mile along this busy road. Filed for a future occasion.
It’s dark and dismal today and may rain again. Although I’m tempted to try it out this evening, I’m not sure I fancy the narrow path on my own in the dark.
Because I know the score where food here is concerned, I bought a rather nice turkey sandwich from the Waitrose in Warwick Services. I’m not feeling hungry.
And there’s Strictly and Dr Who... and Little Drummer girl.
But I’m back in May when there will be more daylight........now there’s a thought.
