Plaque "unveiled" by current woman MP

Margaret Wintringham was selected as Liberal candidate on the death of her husband, Thomas, who had won the seat in 1920. She beat the Unionist candidate at the by-election and at the General Elections in 1922 and 1923, in both of which she achieved 52% of the 80% turnout. She lost in the General Election of 1924 and again in 1929.

Louth has been represented by some colourful MPs since then: Cyril Osborne, 1945-1969; Jeffrey Archer, 1969-1974, and Sir Peter Tapsell, who was Father of the House, 2010-2015.

Victoria Atkins, daughter of a former Conservative MP and MEP, has been our MP since 2015. She is a junior minister at the Home Office. She was a Remain voter at the referendum but represents a constituency which voted Leave.

One of the ways I waste my time is to write to Victoria about various important issues. Invariably I receive a response summarising the Government's policy, to which I reply that I understand the Government's policy fine well, but the reasons for my communications are that there are much better ways of doing things than this government is adopting. I would like to report that this process makes me feel better, but it does not. I am also pretty sure that it has no other effect save a job sustaining role for an MPs assistant.
