Cyril and Dinny
Talk in dlr Lexicon by Cyril Byrne, Irish Press Photographer of the Year 2018 this morning at 10.30am. It was very interesting - his photos are excellent. As Cyril is retiring this year, many of his fellow press photographers were present at the talk and kept snapping the audience - yikes
Amongst his many photos was this one which could be tagged fagbreak but not really because the smoking happens indoors (shock horror) in a small pub in Foxford, Co Mayo. The smoker is holding a donkey on a rope and it all appears quite natural and relaxed. Cyril told us it was taken at a horse fair about 20 years ago. He talked us through about 80 of his more famous shots and it was a real fun, informative session. It just made me want to keep improving my photography and moving away from ‘auto’ on the dial.

Then lunch with a friend in Dun Laoghaire
before
The Turkey Tournament in my tennis club. Sam and I won it last year. My name came out of the hat with Denis (Dinny in Ireland) who I know well and have played with many times.
Well after a round robin of 2 hours, Dinny and I got to the finals. But we lost to a good pair in a hard fought final showdown. So we won the giblets (runners up).
Then our club AGM which went well
then
the party
which involved great food, wine, dancing and singing.
Just home and a bit tired. #clutchingmyrunnersupvoucherha!
