Der Pferdeschwanz/The Ponytail
That's "das Pferd" for "the horse" & "der Schwanz" for "the tail".
G has had a ponytail for as long as I've known her. It's just part and parcel of who she is. Today, however, it will be chopped. For the first time since I've known her, G is going to a hairdresser. I don't expect her to come back looking like early Sinead O'Connor or Annie Lennox, but I am curious to see how different she looks.
In the interests of education and never being one to shy away from the truth I have to tell you that "der Schwanz" has another, entirely different meaning. Not something you'll ever be told in school. And yes, you can call someone "ein Schwanzkopf". Use your new words wisely and sparingly.
