American Goldfinch

When I see a goldfinch all puffed up like this, while the rest of her flock aren't, I wonder if she's sick. I hope not, but they do get things. Like that conjunctivitis problem. Nothing obviously wrong with this one's eyes, though. She was standing on rim of the birdbath and taking the occasional drink. She did fly away when I got too close - but that was a good deal closer than I should have been able to get. Usually they all fly away when I open the door, never mind opening the door and then standing on the porch and sneaking closer and closer.. with a dog at my side...
