My afternoon walk was full of sunshine and lots of peace and quiet in which to be still!
But then, I heard a small tap, tap, tap..
In my last post of a downy woodpecker, I asked the question about brain injury from all that head banging. A faithful follower of my journal responded with an article about the unique way these birds' heads are designed to keep their brains safe, and how scientists are using that info to create better helmets for human heads.
