Tewkesbury

Our decision to get the ferry a day early was vindicated as all ferries to the Hebrides were cancelled today. A day in Cheltenham on offer, we headed to admire the abbey at Tewkesbury, built in the 11th century. The columns in the image give away some of its vintage. Bigger than many a cathedral it is an impressive pile and one that managed to survive the reformation. More importantly we also managed to buy some Tewkesbury Mustard, a local specialty.
A snack lunch in a civilized nearby pub with, bizarrely, a coachload of Swedish tourists then back to Cheltenham and a quick trawl of the (expensive) charity shops.
