One of my favourite sights walking back from Cilantro café to the flat in Cairo to start work. A bit late today, as my body refused to get up this morning and Dd went without her packed lunch which I normally make, along with her breakfat coffee and porridge.
Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salem of Saudi Arabia is in town as part of a global trot that will take him to the G20 in Argentina. He was only meant to be here for one day but after Tunisia cancelled his visit due to recent events in the KSA embassy in Instanbul, he had nowhere to go . . . returning home one day after you have set out on a grand tour would have been a bit awkward. So, accommodating Egypt which has no qualms about hosting such heads of state (birds of a feather, and all that) said, 'Stay on! Your're more than welcome!'
It will give them more time to talk about the huge upcoming Saudi investments in Egypt including the construction of six coastal cities and resorts (to be Saudi run) and a bridge to link the two countries to allow greater flows of just about everything.
The traffic is already bad in the square as central streets are heavily patrolled by soldiers and secret service agents causing severe back ups in the rest of the city.
