Women In Black

My Dear Fellows & Dear Princess Normal,

We are just back from the pictures. I took this picture in Courtney Place, which I have decided is like Wellington's equivalent of the top of Leith Walk. The Event and Reading movie theatres are there, and also the theatre and all the rudey nudey bars.

I've been down there on the ran-dan with Joshua and Tiger, and it is also where you'll see all the drunken youngsters having exploits*.

But tonight we were just there to see Widows, which is the new adaptation of a Lynda La Plante ITV series that I didn't watch back in the day.

There was a difference of opinion on the movie! I liked it, but Cazza thought it was "a bit weird". She didn't like the fact that some things went unresolved at the end. I kind of take her point, but it basically meant that we got to make up our own ending on the way out of the filum - tying up all the loose ends ourselves.

Which was good, because we both decided to make up happy endings.

As you can see, Courtney Place is also where the Big Tree goes. There's another Big Tree in Midland Park, which is sort of like Wellington's equivalent of Saint Andrew Square, only crap**. I like this one better.

It is a pretty tree, to be sure. And helped by the dreich weather which made me feel like it was kinda sorta almost the right sort of weather for festive spirits. But I'm really having to use my imagination here.

* Spewing in the gutter.

** Smaller, no coffee shop, they don't show outdoors films there in the summer, and there's no man with a huge column.
