Gold amongst the Turnips
We went in search of Brambling this morning but there were none to be found where they were reported yesterday. In fact, there were very few birds around until about ¾ of the way our route when the sky suddenly filled with a swirling mass. They dropped into a turnip field and through the binoculars - and my zoom lens full extended - we could identify them as Golden Plover, about 300 of them in all.
