Feeding the elephant

today we set off in a Tuk Tuk to Kandy, more inland and about 100 kms. It is no a journey to be recommended by Tuk Tuk as it took 6 hours.  We stopped off at a few sights including a local coconut workshop. The people were very poor and worked hard to make a living grinding down the shells to make rope, dust to make bricks and other uses - every bit of the cococut was used for a different purpose.
We then stopped off at the elephant orphanage where we could stroke, feed and watch them being washed in the river.  Also a museum, the oldest elephant was 56 years old.
Kandy was a large sprawling area up in the mountains. The countryside on the way was amazing. On the way home we travelling through a storm and the roads became flooded again.
Arrived home rather tired and wet but an good day all in all.
