Surprise

I bought my tickets for the 2019 Bluedot festival within a few days of this year's event finishing. Obviously at that time, I had no idea who might be playing but that was OK, I love the festival itself and their choice of artists has been great so far.

It turns out that the tickets were taken off sale yesterday afternoon in anticipation of a special announcement today (although I was oblivious to this) and the first I knew of it was an email from Bluedot this morning announcing this year's headline act. To be honest, I nearly didn't open it but when I did I couldn't believe my eyes: KRAFTWERK!

Now, I saw them twice on their last tour and, between gigs, I decided that that after the second concert, the one at the Royal Albert Hall, I wouldn't see them again: I wanted to consciously enjoy my last Kraftwerk concert. However, I'm very happy for the fates to foil my plans on this occasion: Kraftwerk at Jodrell Bank on the fiftieth anniversary of the first moon landing. Blimey.

In other news, I found myself frustrated in my exercise plans this week and the only way I could fit everything in was to both run and swim, this evening. Thus, sometime around quarter past seven I found myself in my running stuff, in my nice warm car, parked in the David Lloyd car park, looking at how dark it was outside and remembering how cold it had been during the brief journey from the Minx's front door to the car.

A deep breath (of warm air) and then I was out of the car and running. And, of course, after a few hundred yards, I began to enjoy it. After a mile, I felt my metabolism adjust as the warmth spread to my fingers and then I was like the Ready Brek Kid and not feeling the cold at all.

After five miles of running followed by a mile in the pool, I was ready for something to eat, so I met up with the Minx at the fab little Italian around the corner from her house. She was as excited about Kraftwerk as I was and maybe more so; I still haven't quite digested the news. This decoration in the restaurant summed up how I feel.
