The one who calls me Papa is growing up in a very different world than my childhood one. So much pressure is being applied from an early age to conform to stereotype. She loves pink, being a princess and soft toys. She also loves football, climbing and the computer. In my lifetime women have seen huge advances in equality but still they fall short in many areas of life. This book, challengingly titled Herstory (play on history being his-story) explains the stories of a number of powerful women who changed society One day, just maybe, the one who calls me papa may be in there. I can dream. But it is possible. It's only our imagination and culture than inhibits the progress of women's rights.
