Letter to Nina

Dear Nina,
I was so pleased to find your letter lying on the mat when I got home from the coal face today. It cheered me up no end.

Never mind that it was a bit late, the fact you wrote it and addressed the envelope instead of quickly typing an email is a much nicer way of thanking me.
I bet there was just a little nagging from your Mama to get it written . When you are older you will be able to pad out your letters a little more with news about what you are doing , which is always of interest to me.

Once upon a time I nagged your Aunt to write a thank you letter to her great aunt who had kindly sent her money. One of the sentences in her extremely short thank you letter was ‘Thank you for the money. I like money’. She was about the same age as you are now-10.

I know you are busy now you are in P6 and have swimming and music lessons to go to in the evening. I would love to hear you on the fiddle and the chanter. Sometime we might be able to have a bagpipe threesome with Seb and Finlay and Anna on the drums!

I hope after Christmas you can come through to Edinburgh with your Mum and we can have more mocktails together.
Now I am about to pour myself a little raspberry liqueur and tonic water to reward myself for another challenging day.

Give my love to your Mum and Dad and a hug to Ewan.

Grandma x
