The Quality of Mersey

“The quality of Mersey is not strained; It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven”... as Shakespeare *almost* said.

He was doubtless predicting the many charms of the lovely Mersey Wylie!

I was lucky enough tonight to be in attendance at the launch of Mersey’s debut EP, ‘The Skin I Live In’ - and it’s an absolute corker of a recording!

Mersey and her brilliant band played an impassioned set at Liverpool’s legendary Parr Street Studios, including all 4 songs from the EP alongside some terrific new songs, written since the EP was recorded (which bode extremely well for future recordings!) as well as a great interpretation of Dolly Parton’s classic, ‘Jolene’.

Not only does Mersey possess a killer set of pipes, she’s a superb performer and she writes really thoughtful lyrics, exploring her own mental health as well as issues such as the #MeToo movement. She’s the real deal.

She said it was probably the best night of her life, and it was great to be there to enjoy it!
