A Pentland Passage

Once across the gently rolling Firth find your way up to Thurso Station. The Orient Express has nothing on the all-stops train to Inverness. If you are not of a romantic bent you can get the X99 bus to Inverness. Better still true thrill seekers will hole up for the night in Mrs McGurgell's B and B in Scrabster.

My preferred option is to stay north of the Firth.
