Railway clock
This is a replica of a Canadian Pacific Railway station clock. I grew up in railway stations listening to the steady tick-tock of these clocks and hearing the time signals come in on the telegraph every morning. My father would listen to the time signal and then set the clock to the exact time. The section gang, who maintained the track, or any other railway employee could then adjust their pocket watches (or more likely wrist watches today) to the time on the station clock. It was and is critical for everyone to be working to an exact time standard so there will be no confusion with running trains.
