The big arrival
Blipping marvellous, thank you muchly for your wonderful comments stars and hearts on yesterday’s blip birthday.
This mornings stroll to Grande Place in Brussels saw some unexpected excitement. What on earth were all those tripods and tv crews doing there at such an early hour? Police flashing lights and a commotion in the far corner revealed the reason. The arrival of the Christmas tree. The star of this early show was proving problematic, stuck in the narrow entrance. The wide irregular load had already ripped off some awnings and was now jammed against wooden cafe terrace as it tried to turn into the square. More destruction was on its way if the tree was to claim its place. I’m not sure the restaurant owners will have been so enthusiastic to see the tree when they arrived to open up !
The lorry eventually got through and the tv crews took up a new position alongside me at the hole and we got our blips together.
I needed to leave before the giant tree was raised into position but on the back of the lorry it showed the scars of too many low bridges and narrow lanes with matt broken branches. I hope it is still roughly the right shape when it is released.
