The Black Country Character

Another really interesting day today with a visit to the Dudley Archives and Black Country Museum with a guide at each one.  It was part of a day organised by English Heritage and included lunch for us all.

The Archives were fascinating for the way they do things and for some of the things in there.  I was particularly interested in the 1930s diaries of a local colliery owner's daughter .  Then the Museum was SOOOOO interesting.  We had never been on an extended visit before and it is a place we will go back to again now.  The volunteers there were so good - amusing and in role - and the history was intriguing.  Running out of adjectives...  But you can probably work out that I enjoyed it!

This was the "owner" of the hardware shop an he certainly had some stories to tell!

Maybe we should have a blipmeet there and go through the canal tunnels too...
