Full reboot needed

I found out a few days ago that one of my recent students died. I was just exchanging emails with her last week, as I was writing the graduate school letters of recommendation for her.

Her death was a fluke, a result of a childhood illness that affected her circulatory system. The idea of a 23 year old dying is so bizarre, inappropriate, and disheartening.  Many students are very affected by her death, so I worry about them, too.

I need a complete reboot. A silent retreat at a monastery sounds really great. For now, a nap will have to do.
