This is Didi, my dear friend in Beijing. She has been an inspiration to me since we met in 1992. She was a visiting teacher on the AFS intercultural program to bring teachers to the US for one school year. I was area representative for AFS in central Indiana and responsible for finding host families for high school exchange students, and in 1992, for a teacher too! What I did not expect was the strong friendship that quickly developed between Didi and me. She has been to the US multiple times to visit and I have been to visit her and her family in Beijing. She is my Chinese sister.
