Congratulations!!!

A very happy day, proud parents and daughter.

A trip to Sheffield for R’s graduation. We initially headed for City Hall to collect her gown and sort out the tickets that should have arrived in the post.

It was absolutely lashing with rain as we then headed over to one of the University buildings for an initial prize giving ceremony. A chance for a coffee and to dry out a bit, the ‘drowned rat look’ is not very fetching. We were pleased that we had dug out the winter coats, when we saw the weather forecast yesterday!!

R received the award for the highest overall mark on the full-time MBA course, she also got a silver award for something else, not sure what that was. She chose not to wear her gown for this event as we had to head back to City Hall for the main event and it was still raining. But has it on in the picture in extras.

A most enjoyable ceremony. A bit different to the first one the 3 of us attended, when B and I were awarded our degrees with the OU in the early 90’s in Ely Cathedral, which was very formal.

R’s first degree was in Bedford and should have been held on the day Princess Di was buried, but it was postponed until the following day. Two more degrees, a masters and doctorate in education part time at B’ham followed.

A full-time MBA last year and a change in career from education saw us at today’s event. The Hall was full of families, including tiny babies, toddlers and all ages up to oldies like us. It was very warm, no problems in drying out any soggy souls.

A very different atmosphere today. Young women wearing killer heels tottered across the stage and successfully negotiated the steps down, everyone clapped for everyone that came onto the stage, many families and friends cheered and shouted when their special person appeared and some were rewarded with waves in return.

When the excitement was over we went to Browns for dinner......most enjoyable:0)

A great day to share and congratulations R on all her hard work. It was a year that presented a number of challenges which she met head on and dealt with.
