golden tree
snapped on my way back from a lunchtime trip to buy a humane mouse trap. One of the little gentlemen who like cheese (to quote Andrew Miller in Pure) ran up the garage wall as I started the car this morning. The trap is too clever for M and me, we have baited it with ridiculously expensive jam, lacking the peanut butter recommended, but we can't set it - either it falls closed, or is so propped open it will never close and mousie will just gorge himself on fruit conserve, before moving on to eating our boots and wires.
We were having a large tree cut down today, it was growing much too close to the house, but were both sad about it because it has cones which the birds come to eat. Mark asked for a haiku to sum up our day:
a tree grew too tall
it must be cut
mouse made house
chop, trap
gone
which I thought was ok for off the cuff, when I was in the office supposedly working.
I liked the sunlight through the trees. The stone must have done something very naughty to have been imprisoned like that.
