Ventilation

On the way back from Avondale, where I’d seen the dentist for a check this morning, I stopped and took this photograph of one of the big ventilation shafts for the tunnel which connects the Southwestern motorway underground to the interchange with the Northwestern motorway at Waterview.

There was some issue about whether or not the ventilation system worked as it was meant to, and despite completion being some months ahead of schedule, the tunnels didn’t get used until well after.

Now it’s functional, the road is well used, and I like that this is not just a concrete chimney.
