Frozen Bog and Fog
We were working near the A82 road side not far from Roy Bridge as the crow flies and not far from M' Mum's house either.
A local weather phenomenon we often discuss is the sharp difference in climate between Stronaba and Roy Bridge. Roy Bridge is in the Glen Spean valley and has a wonderful open view of sky to the south. There are high mountains to the south but they are sufficiently distant that even on a winter's day you will get to see the sun (if it is on show at all) by mid morning.
Stronaba is in the Great Glen valley and is quite close to the low hill rising to its south (Stronaba Hill) thus in more shadow. There was a hard frost here and a heavy mist which was most reluctant to lift and indeed by the time it dispersed it was starting to get dark again.
It was clearly very localised as virtually every car which went past did so with lights off despite visibility being less than a hundred yards at times. We spent a shivery, cold fingered, day trudging about in fog and frozen bog.
Imagine my frustration when I got home and M said, "Its been a nice sunny day then".
It clearly depends on which side of Stronaba hill you decide to spend it.
Stronaba; I think "Stron" nose, "Ba" cow. = Cow's Nose which incidentally was very nearly my blip image today. I'll stick it in my blipfolio now.
Anyway, this is that elusive sun doing its best to lift the Stronaba mist.
