Newhaven
I was on a bus heading for Granton breakwater as I thought the water would be calm but as I passed Newhaven I saw there was a bit of a swell so abandoned that idea and got off the bus at the next stop. While walking back I saw a large cardboard box on the pavement. It was bashed up and burst but I could see that it contained wool blankets. I thought it was odd but went on my way.
But... wait.. what???
I went back and found it was addressed to "Edinburgh Direct Aid". I knew that was a charity supporting refugees so had to see that it got to its intended destination. Fortunately it wasn't very heavy and I didn't have to carry it very far. It's nice to do a good deed.
Continuing on I took a slight detour to take a snap of a friend's ex-home . On the way I passed a pub that I'd never seen before. Further on I was apprehended by an elderly chap looking for a street I'd heard of - and which I was sure was very close by. I whipped out my recently acquired Android phone ( oooh - get me!) and was, after an embarrassing amount of faffing, able to assure the chap that he was "fairly close" to that street. It seemed to be a long street so he suggested I search on the specific house number he required. So I did. And it was, quite literally, the premises at the other end of the street we were standing on.
It was the pub that I'd never seen before... at the end of the street.
If only he'd asked, "Do you know where The Dreadnaught is?".
We had a laugh and parted.
A gentle run over Salisbury Crags and Arthurs Seat followed.
