Armistice Day: At the going down of the sun
After an excellent Sunday lunch we walked along the towpath by the Rufford branch of the Leeds Liverpool Canal. Returning the sun was setting in the west.
Large flocks of fieldfares feasting on the hawthorn berries, redwings too. The sound of fieldfares - their chukka chukka calls - is one of winter's sounds, so despite the mild weather it's clear winter is on its way.
The last stretch of the walk saw the emergence of the crescent moon. And just beneath it a dot of light, the planet Saturn.
Of course it has also been armistice day, so a poetical reference in the blip heading, courtesy of Laurence Binyon, seems appropriate
