Veterans Day Parade

The Veterans Day Parade is normally on the second Saturday of November but in this 100th anniversary year of the ending of the First World War it was moved to today. A quite different affair from the more solemn Remembrance that we are used to at home but none the worse for it. It started with a Boeing 707 air to air refuelling plane flying low down the main street, Massachusetts Avenue, and then a parade of Veterans which included Harleys, old cars, service vehicles, fire, sheriff and police vehicles, floats and this KU marching band. Quite a moving experience in its own way, with spectators thanking the Veterans for their service.

An early Blip as it is only just after 12.00 (6pm at home) having just got back from the parade. We are now going out for the afternoon before meeting up with Mary Ann again this evening for a last dinner before we leave.
