The inscription

Inside Grandad's watch and his Medal's.
The inscription reads
Presented By Little Bealings to Sergt. H Smith To Commemorate his winning The Military Medal March 9 1918.
I asked him once when I was quite young what he did and he said in a very casual way there was a machinegun post doing a lot of damage and I said to the lads we better go up there and get rid of them. Charged up a hill through corn field and got wounded in the legs. Very brave man I loved him.
We are off to church now
