Red Kiosk

This is the telephone kiosk at Kilmuir on the Black Isle which I first photographed in 2009. There's now an official BT notice inside saying it will be removed because it has not had enough use, but the notice looks pretty tatty so has probably been there quite while. The 'phone itself has been removed. Just a few days ago there was a short item on local TV news saying a lorry had appeared to carry out the removal but was seen by a local lady who called for reinforcements. The driver agreed to go away. I believe BT have quite a little industry doing these things up and selling them - sometimes to people in America. Perhaps to replace the "naughty step" or to make a drinks cabinet. Perhaps neither of those ideas is very PC. For some reason yesterday I got an email from a person called Steve Jones who seems to think I'm part of the Kilmuir community. Perhaps because my 2009 shot was posted on Flickr although there were no suggestions of removal in those days. He lives in a small village of about 300 souls, Oxton, in the Borders. They found themselves in a similar situation and their solution to the "what to do with a red kiosk" seems a really good idea although it wouldn't work everywhere. They've converted it to a defibrillator centre. Details are on the village website. Sounds like they really have a good community spirit down there. One problem here is that the Kilmuir box is right at the end of the village and a bit beyond.
The picture is looking roughly S or SE across the Beauly Firth towards Culloden.
