Old Mersey Locks

I always thought of this area as Cooper's Yard. Ships would bring in sand and it would be distributed from here. Timber was also brought in here for Naylor's Timber. The last time I saw a dredger in the river was about 1974. The locks fed into the Mersey from the Manchester Ship Canal. The Mersey link is now choked with willows growing on the silt.
