The border collie 'eye"

Another trick up the border collie sleeve is the "the eye'". 

I think the purpose of this inherited, intense stare is to intimidate livestock and help the dogs herd and control animals. I catch my dogs giving me this look when I have a toy or something delicious in my hand.
