Manesty Woods
I was tempted to name this, 'No56...the larch' but Manesty Woods is much more magical.
The weather turned out better than expected as we explored these beautiful woods on the side of Derwentwater. Stately and majestic larches, russet beeches and evergreens made it a smashing place to amble and look for blips. We blipped large and we blipped small, we blipped in the dry and in the rain, we blipped huge vistas and minimalist vistas. Looking at our photos tonight, David commented that the trees were sentient and it made me wonder if that was from where Tolkien drew his Ents, we were surrounded by them today.
It's not far off midnight so no more musings for now. I've lasted to this point fortified by the wonderful Deb's wonderful sticky toffee pudding, but now it's time for bed.
