Westcliff-on-Sea, suburb of Southend-on-Sea, is a seaside resort on the north bank of the Thames Estuary, about 34 miles east of London, with fast rail links into the city. The main shopping area in Westcliff became famous as the Bond Street of Essex. Originally, there were haberdashers and specialist shops here and it was not unusual to see chauffeurs waiting for their employers to emerge from the shops. It is now known for its independent shops and restaurants.

Westcliff-on-Sea is home to two theatres, the Thames Estuary Yacht Club and the Westcliff Casino, the second largest casino in Great Britain.
