Total shock

So, the main financier of the leave campaign, a man who only requires a suitable black moustache to achieve total pantomime villain status, has been referred to the NCA, who are responsible for serious and organised crimes. The suggestion is that he may not be the source of the money used to fund all manner of questionable activity, for a referendum won by a very small margin. Who knows who the actual source of the money could be (cough ... Russia ... cough) - but the most striking thing is that the news generated almost no surprise whatsoever. This should have caused a storm of speculation and protest; and I can’t help feeling that if it had been the other way around we would have talked about nothing else for weeks until a re-run was granted, but barely a blip.

There is something decidedly rotten at the heart of British politics, and it does start to feel like a lot more people are complicit in that.
