massive outpouring of love
I spent some time this morning at the Dumfries depot of MOOL (Massive Outpouring of Love). This is a charity which began as a response to the Calais crisis and has grown into 'a humanitarian movement encouraging unity, harmony and understanding, hoping to educate and inform about the refugee crisis and to challenge the negative misconceptions that surround those seeking safety'. MOOL accepts donations of clothing to send to Calais and here you can see the part of the depot where these donations come in to be sorted. I particularly liked the sign which said "Love Has No Labels". Volunteers write little notes of encouragement and friendship and put them into the pockets of the clothes, recognising the humanity of the recipient (and the fact that our roles could so easily have been reversed under different circumstances).
MOOL also assists in welcoming refugee families to our area and when I visited, most of the volunteers were out preparing a house for a new family who will be arriving soon.
They also provide assistance to local people in need through Women's Aid and the Independent Living Fund.
I asked the depot manger who showed me around if he would mind me taking his photo and using it on my "Humans of Dumfries and Galloway" facebook page to publicise the work of MOOL. He agreed and you can see the post HERE.
