Zounds!

This is the book I've been reading over the weekend and by Jesu 'tis a fine story! Marry nuncle.

It's set in the 12th century and is about a man who works his way up from hearth knight to one of the most powerful men in England. The action eventually ends up in the court of Richard the Lionheart, though it took me a while to realise who the young princes Richard and John actually were because I didn't know they had an older brother, Henry. Their father, Henry came after the King Stephen who is mentioned in The Pillars of the Earth. Now I just have to work out how they link to the Henry's in the Shakespeare plays!

I'm only about 100 pages from the end and I'm loathe to finish it, it's that good!
